Simply Sassy Spotlight

Whoohoo..

Very honoured to be in the Spotlight over at the Simply Sassy blog!

As I’ve loved these little cuties from day one,
I jumped at the chance when asked :)

Sassy Artist Krista Smith just keeps coming with these amazing designs
that when asked to pick a favorite..
I just could not!! I love them all!

.oOo.

Cherise will be having a sleep over party for her birthday at the end of the month
and thought it would be nice to make some invitations.
The sweet ‘Bedtime Snuggles‘ is just perfect for this with her cute bunny slippers ;-)

I’ve made a criss cross card,
still one of my favorite card shapes
ever since I seen Beate’s fab splitcoast stampers tutorial a looong time ago
[you can find it here]

Printed off the invite itself onto plain card.
Cut to size and stamped the border with stamps from Card-io.

.oOo.

Yes.. I know I made a boo-boo with the printing,
but only noticed after taking the pics..
Luckily this can easily be re-done and changed..lol

The papers I used are MME All Girl,
MS border punch, SU! Ribbon and Sassy
has been coloured with Copics, cut out and 3D’d onto the ribbon.

.oOo.

Another great BIG thank you to the Simply Sassy Inspiration blog for having me :D

Have a gorgeous week all,

Hugs, Marlena x

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to you all!

Anyone had enough of all the Chocolate, eggs and sweet stuff yet? Lol
I do hope you all having a relaxing time this bank holiday!

.oOo.

I wanted to show you my card with the ‘Delicious‘ Sassy stamp by Sugar Nellie

She is great to use for all kinds of celebrations, don’t you think?

On Facebook the Sugar Nellie group had a ‘Spots & Dots’ challenge going..
Even though this challenge has now finished and the new weekly challenge is up,
I still wanted to give the group a mention.

I will enter it in the CCT challenge for this week,
as I’ve not used a sentiment or text.

.oOo.

Yep.. Another cupcake pic to show you..
but promise that this will be the last one for a while!

We made Chocolate ones this time with Orange flavour Icing,
decorated with choc sprinkles and mini eggs.
If at all possible these tasted even sweeter than the previous lot :D

.oOo.

Have a fabulous week ahead,

Hugs, Marlena x

Bella Bunting

The challenge at the FaceBook Sugar Nellie group this week is
to make any easel card shape you fancy.

I have used the cute Bella Bunting from the Simply Sassy collections,
she’s such fun!

I don’t usually colour any of my images before I know what papers I want to use,
just had a little colouring session, experimenting..
Boy.. did I struggle to find papers afterwards,
but am really pleased how this card came together!

The sketch I used is a great one from Friday Sketchers

I have used the NS doily die for the circle element of the sketch and
machine stitched some Tulle and Ribbon together to make the ruffled border.

Pierced some of the border on the image
and added some heart pins for detail.

PTW would like to see you putting on the glitz,
so I’ll pop it along over there too

.oOo.

Getting overly excited about this coming weekend now,
can’t wait to catch up with the Sugar Nellie CHA girlies Karen & Erika again.
And to top it off having a class with mr Tim Holtz himself!!
Whoohoo!

Next week my sister is coming over for a catch up
and I have just booked my trip to go back with her and spend
some time in Holland with my family!

Have  a lovely evening all,

Marlene x

Triangle Joyfold

Hello and thanks for visiting me today,

It’s the 2nd Sugar Nellie facebook challenge
and this time they would like to see a Joyfold on your card.
As per usual I wanted to do the fold with a slight twist,
so made a Triangle one instead :)

The size template and how I used it can be found at the bottom of this post.

Isn’t this Simply Sassy stamp adorable?
She is called ‘Spread your Wings
and can be found at Funkykits.

She is coloured with copics,
and had a go at some shadowing in her top,
me things I need more practise!

Above a couple of close ups on the fold,
and here is the Card Recipe:

Image: Sugar Nellie,
sentiment: can’t remember.. sorry!
Punches: MS border /corner, SU! bird and lace trim, Scalloped Circle,
Papers: MME Bella, Bella
Embellies: Sticky pearls and glitter pen for doodling

The message can be left on the decorated panel.

I’m really pleased how this turned out

.oOo.

Triangle Joyfold template:

You can make this fold in 2 ways,
the first one is what I done for my card

You will need 2 pieces of cardstock, 5.5″ x 11″ each.
Score both pieces at 5.5″ lengthwise,
cut one piece on a diagonal from top-middle to left bottom
and the second piece from top middle to bottom right.

If your cardstock has a right/wrong side,
make sure the wrong side is facing up.

Attach the 2 pieces together on the square so it looks like this:

Decorate the inside with patterned paper,
then stick the left triange down onto the centre

Or.. Try method two:

You could also achieve this by just using 1 piece of card stock at the given measurements,
by using the cut off triangle and sticking direct onto the decorated inside

But this leaves a rough layered edge on the left hand side,
and I didn’t want that.

Once this base was done,
I cut a panel 3.5″ x 7″ of cardstock,
scored at 3.5″ and fold to make the small panel

Measure on your card with the right triangle folded in to see if it fits

[How d'ya like my valentine nails uh?? lol]

Once happy,
stick the back of the smaller panel into place onto the cardbase,
leaving only the right triangle free to open/close.

You can now decorate the rest of your card however you fancy :)

Hope this template will be of use to some of you

Have a great evening
and don’t forget to come back tomorrow for a new Sugar Bowl Challenge

Hugs,

Marlena

Circle side step

Helloo,

There is a little story to how this card came about..
As mentioned in my previous post there is a Sugar Nellie challenge
on Facebook asking for side step cards.
In one of the discussions, Cathy asked if there was a way
to have a bigger panel for larger stamps to use..
so I got to playing with some A4 paper
and managed to get a larger template to work
[Template for this supplied at bottom of this post]

While at work,
I got to thinking and doodling if it was possible to make a circle step card.
When I got home I got my large nesties out and after about a thousand tries..
Guess what?.. It worked!

It’s hard to see the steps as I’ve covered them with flowers & dragonflies
but you get the idea!

To decorate my card I have used a large scalloped strip at the bottom.
Image is ‘Party Frills‘ from Sugar Nellie,
she is such a cutie!
Colored her with Copics and
nested onto a scalloped circle which is attached half over the fold.

Some of the flowers are from Marianne dies,
dragonfly is a Doohicky die, and the sentiment is by SU!

I love it when a plan comes together..
and again.. Thanks Cathy for getting me to think ‘outside the box’ :)

I’d like to enter this card in the PTW Flower challenge for this week,
and My Time to Craft’s challenge is Flourishes

***

As promised here is the template for the folded A5 step

When cut and folded it will look like this

Let me know if you would like to see the circle template as well.

Little light of mine..

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend so far?

Made myself a promise to make a start on some Christmas cards
and with this cute Sassy stamp would fit the theme I thought what with the candle and all..

But as it all come together, I’m wasn’t so sure so left the sentiment off..
until I know what I’m gonna do with it :)

The sketch used is from the Friday Sketchers blog..
and as the theme over at Secret Crafters is Sparkle & Shine,
my card  with the shiny ribbon and sparkly image
[better seen if you click the pics for full view] fits in there too

The gorgeous Simply Sassy stamp used is
‘Little light of mine”
and over at Funky Kits the 2nd set of these cuties are now available to buy!!

Right, I’m off to settle down and watch X-Factor.. Elton John week!
