Simply Sassy Spotlight

Whoohoo..

Very honoured to be in the Spotlight over at the Simply Sassy blog!

As I’ve loved these little cuties from day one,
I jumped at the chance when asked :)

Sassy Artist Krista Smith just keeps coming with these amazing designs
that when asked to pick a favorite..
I just could not!! I love them all!

.oOo.

Cherise will be having a sleep over party for her birthday at the end of the month
and thought it would be nice to make some invitations.
The sweet ‘Bedtime Snuggles‘ is just perfect for this with her cute bunny slippers ;-)

I’ve made a criss cross card,
still one of my favorite card shapes
ever since I seen Beate’s fab splitcoast stampers tutorial a looong time ago
[you can find it here]

Printed off the invite itself onto plain card.
Cut to size and stamped the border with stamps from Card-io.

.oOo.

Yes.. I know I made a boo-boo with the printing,
but only noticed after taking the pics..
Luckily this can easily be re-done and changed..lol

The papers I used are MME All Girl,
MS border punch, SU! Ribbon and Sassy
has been coloured with Copics, cut out and 3D’d onto the ribbon.

.oOo.

Another great BIG thank you to the Simply Sassy Inspiration blog for having me :D

Have a gorgeous week all,

Hugs, Marlena x

SugarBowl ~57~

Yes, I know.. I deserve a big slap for being such a bad blogger lately..

But we have now entered our busiest time at the Garden Centre,
that will always come first!
On top of that i’ve got lots of probs with this blog and not having the time to sit and work it all out,
so I might have to go back to my old one sometime soon!

.oOo.

I’ve let the Sugar Bowl challenge blog down as well for a couple of challenges..
so I had to make my first creation with their latest sketch.

Maria Theresa has provided a gorgeous one, thanks sweetie!

I’ve made my first Easter card for this year [not that I make many!]
and used the gorgeous ‘Bad Hare Day’ Simply Sassy stamp.
The inside is decorated as well with a message on the left
and blank space for message on the right.

Once again the Sugar Nellie prize on offer for joining this fortnight is totally fab!

A set of Floral Doily Nesties [I have used it on my image circle]
and the newest full set of Simply Sassy girls [set 6]

Please visit the Sugar Bowl blog for all the details on how to enter
and just have a peek at the gorgeous creations by the other Sweeties!

.oOo.

The weather was so totally gorgeous the last couple of days
and my 3 babies were so enjoying the rays that I had to take some pics

Have a wonderful evening all,

Hugs, Marlena x

Twisted easel card

Not made one of these twisted easels before,
but boy.. are they fun and easy to do

Today I have used ‘Hippy Chick
another fab Simply Sassy stamp by Sugar Nellie

She is coloured with Copic sketch markers,
touched up with shimmer paints,
shame you can’t see that very well on the photo.

PP are Basic Grey Porcelain and MME.
Used MS border punch and build up the flowers topped with buttons.
The bling swirls are from Prima.

Here is a side view of the fold,
I forgot to take a pic folded flat but
it just lifts up and drops ontop of the inside panel.

My card fits in with the following challenges:

* Colour Create – Lemon, Green and White
* Dutch Dare Challenges – Buttons

If you would like to try a fold like this..
You can find a great little tutorial here

ETA:

Some of you have emailed that they couldn’t view the tutorial without loggin in..
so here is a brief description on how the fold was made.

My size card is a 5.5″ x 11″ [15 x 30 cm] scored and folded in half.
Score the right side of your card diagonal from top-middle to right bottom
and fold inwards,
when you place the left card square down,
the right triangle fold will now make a little mount.
Make up your front panel onto a 5.5″ [15cm] square piece of cardstock.
Now look at your card base with the triangle mount standing up,
add glue to just that bit that is showing and align your front panel to fit.
You will need to make a little raised embellishment
[or sentiment in my case] in front to keep it from sliding shut.

Thanks so much for looking and any comments you might leave..

Circle side step

Helloo,

There is a little story to how this card came about..
As mentioned in my previous post there is a Sugar Nellie challenge
on Facebook asking for side step cards.
In one of the discussions, Cathy asked if there was a way
to have a bigger panel for larger stamps to use..
so I got to playing with some A4 paper
and managed to get a larger template to work
[Template for this supplied at bottom of this post]

While at work,
I got to thinking and doodling if it was possible to make a circle step card.
When I got home I got my large nesties out and after about a thousand tries..
Guess what?.. It worked!

It’s hard to see the steps as I’ve covered them with flowers & dragonflies
but you get the idea!

To decorate my card I have used a large scalloped strip at the bottom.
Image is ‘Party Frills‘ from Sugar Nellie,
she is such a cutie!
Colored her with Copics and
nested onto a scalloped circle which is attached half over the fold.

Some of the flowers are from Marianne dies,
dragonfly is a Doohicky die, and the sentiment is by SU!

I love it when a plan comes together..
and again.. Thanks Cathy for getting me to think ‘outside the box’ :)

I’d like to enter this card in the PTW Flower challenge for this week,
and My Time to Craft’s challenge is Flourishes

As promised here is the template for the folded A5 step

When cut and folded it will look like this

Let me know if you would like to see the circle template as well.

Call me..

It’s been a long day..
and there is nothing better than playing around with
paper and pens to unwind for an hour or so!

It resulted in me making my card for the
Simply Sassy Facebook challenge,
where they would like to see a side step card.

I have used one of the new Sassy stamps,
Call me, she is just ‘dreamy’!

I cut her out leaving a small boarder and
made the card into a dresser like I seen on this baby card

As the challenge over at Stamptacular Sunday is
‘WHATEVA!’
I’m entering it there as well.

Have a great and relaxing evening,

Hugs, Marlene x

I give you my heart..

Grabbed a little time today and got to finish a card
with one of the gorgeous Sassy girls from Sugar Nellie

This cutie is called ‘I give you my heart’
and she is one of my favorites from set 2.

Wanted to make an Easel card this time..
as it’s been a while since I done one of those!
You can click the pic at the top of this post to get a better view of this.

The sketch I’ve used is from The Sweet Stop,
stumbled upon their blog while hopping and the sketch just jumped out at me.

Little light of mine..

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend so far?

Made myself a promise to make a start on some Christmas cards
and with this cute Sassy stamp would fit the theme I thought what with the candle and all..

But as it all come together, I’m wasn’t so sure so left the sentiment off..
until I know what I’m gonna do with it :)

The sketch used is from the Friday Sketchers blog..
and as the theme over at Secret Crafters is Sparkle & Shine,
my card  with the shiny ribbon and sparkly image
[better seen if you click the pics for full view] fits in there too

The gorgeous Simply Sassy stamp used is
‘Little light of mine”
and over at Funky Kits the 2nd set of these cuties are now available to buy!!

Right, I’m off to settle down and watch X-Factor.. Elton John week!

Thanks everso for looking

Sugar Overload.. not bad at all!

Promised I’d be back soon.. didn’t I??

The SUGAR BOWL has had a new challenge up.. and I’m only a week late!!
Luckily the Sugar Bowl challenges last for 2 weeks so plenty of time for anyone still to join in
and have a chance of winning the fabulous prizes that are up for grabs.

I received a little parcel of sweetness containing the Simply Sassy stamps from Sugar Nellie today,
love these quirky images, aren’t they just such fun?
I wanted to colour one straight away and make my belated Sugar Bowl card with it.

I masked “My friend Kitty” onto a swing [C.C Design]
but then the image turned out rather large and couldn’t be used with Maria Therese’s gorgeous sketch on my normal square card size,
I then thought of folding the front panel back on itself and use it as an opening panel.
I love this quick & easy card style :)

Here are a couple more views of the card, you can click them to enlarge.

The optional theme for the challenge is “Ribbon & Bows”,
I’m quite impressed with myself that I’ve even managed to do that.. LOL

You have another week to join in with the Sugar Bowl challenge,
do pop by the blog to get all the details and fab inspiration by the DT.

***

Some more sugary sweet news is that the next Simply Sassy designs
are available to buy from Funky Kits this weekend.. Yay!
And have you seen the new “Simply Adorable” images that are going to be turned into stamps?
They are just awesome!

***

My card also ties in with the CUTE CARD THURSDAY challenge for this week,
it’s an “Anything Goes” week!

Have a fabulous evening all,

Hugs, Marlene x
