Sugar Bowl ~58~ plus more Cupcakes..

Hello and happy Thursday to you all :)

Time for a brand spanking new challenge by the Sugar Bowl
and this time it is a sketch my Moi.
I chose the optional theme of ‘Buttons’..
Up to you if you like to use this option :)

For my card I had to use the beautiful Melissa,
one of the 3 new Adorable Digi’s by Sugar Nellie..
I just fell in love with them as soon as I seen them!

The prize this fortnight is another beauty.. not to be missed

Hero Arts ‘Find Joy’ stamp set & Spellbinders Fancy Tags 2…

.. a big WOW, right?

You gotta have a play with us
to be in with a chance to get your hands on this fabby prize..
so please visit the SB blog for all the details
and as always get all the inspiration you need from my fellow sweeties!

.oOo.

I still haven’t got ‘Cupcakes’ out of my system
and last weekend I played around with a calorie free cupcake pattern
that I got from the Hobby House stand at the last NEC show

With the kids naggin’ me to go here, there and everywhere
while they are on their Easter break I just didn’t have time to put up a post with it..
..and.. don’t know about you..
but it takes me longer to get a post up than actually making anything!! lol

This delicious creation is made up from
paper, ribbon, flowers and twine,
the tag at the top can be pushed in and out of the top to reveal a message.

A total guilt free treat ;-)

Tomorrow,
Cherise and I are on a mission to make our Easter Choc Cups,
and I’ll be sure to post about that :-D

Have a fabulous day everyone,

Hugs, Marlene x

SugarBowl ~57~

Yes, I know.. I deserve a big slap for being such a bad blogger lately..

But we have now entered our busiest time at the Garden Centre,
that will always come first!
On top of that i’ve got lots of probs with this blog and not having the time to sit and work it all out,
so I might have to go back to my old one sometime soon!

.oOo.

I’ve let the Sugar Bowl challenge blog down as well for a couple of challenges..
so I had to make my first creation with their latest sketch.

Maria Theresa has provided a gorgeous one, thanks sweetie!

I’ve made my first Easter card for this year [not that I make many!]
and used the gorgeous ‘Bad Hare Day’ Simply Sassy stamp.
The inside is decorated as well with a message on the left
and blank space for message on the right.

Once again the Sugar Nellie prize on offer for joining this fortnight is totally fab!

A set of Floral Doily Nesties [I have used it on my image circle]
and the newest full set of Simply Sassy girls [set 6]

Please visit the Sugar Bowl blog for all the details on how to enter
and just have a peek at the gorgeous creations by the other Sweeties!

.oOo.

The weather was so totally gorgeous the last couple of days
and my 3 babies were so enjoying the rays that I had to take some pics

Have a wonderful evening all,

Hugs, Marlena x

Sugarbowl ~53~ My sketch

Hello and welcome to another challenge from the Sugar Bowl

The sketch this time has been provided by myself,
it is totally up to you if you want to make a circle card
or use this sketch as a whole onto a square card.

I have used the fundraiser stamp ‘Pure of Heart‘ by Diane Duda,
where all the proceeds go to the ‘Its a girl thing’ fundraiser.

The optional theme I have chosen is a colour combo
with the following pic for inspiration

.oOo.

Once again Sugar Nellie have a fabulous prize up for grabs,
your choice of 6 stamps for not 1 but TWO lucky winners!

As always, pop over to the SB challenge blog
for all the info and gorgeous inspiration from the DT sweeties.

.oOo.

I’m also entering my card in the following challenges:

Flutter by Wednesday: At least 3 hearts
Fab n Funky: Tempting Texture

Have a wonderful thursday all,

Hugs,

Marlena

Twisted easel card

Not made one of these twisted easels before,
but boy.. are they fun and easy to do

Today I have used ‘Hippy Chick
another fab Simply Sassy stamp by Sugar Nellie

She is coloured with Copic sketch markers,
touched up with shimmer paints,
shame you can’t see that very well on the photo.

PP are Basic Grey Porcelain and MME.
Used MS border punch and build up the flowers topped with buttons.
The bling swirls are from Prima.

Here is a side view of the fold,
I forgot to take a pic folded flat but
it just lifts up and drops ontop of the inside panel.

My card fits in with the following challenges:

* Colour Create – Lemon, Green and White
* Dutch Dare Challenges – Buttons

If you would like to try a fold like this..
You can find a great little tutorial here

ETA:

Some of you have emailed that they couldn’t view the tutorial without loggin in..
so here is a brief description on how the fold was made.

My size card is a 5.5″ x 11″ [15 x 30 cm] scored and folded in half.
Score the right side of your card diagonal from top-middle to right bottom
and fold inwards,
when you place the left card square down,
the right triangle fold will now make a little mount.
Make up your front panel onto a 5.5″ [15cm] square piece of cardstock.
Now look at your card base with the triangle mount standing up,
add glue to just that bit that is showing and align your front panel to fit.
You will need to make a little raised embellishment
[or sentiment in my case] in front to keep it from sliding shut.

Thanks so much for looking and any comments you might leave..

Circle side step

Helloo,

There is a little story to how this card came about..
As mentioned in my previous post there is a Sugar Nellie challenge
on Facebook asking for side step cards.
In one of the discussions, Cathy asked if there was a way
to have a bigger panel for larger stamps to use..
so I got to playing with some A4 paper
and managed to get a larger template to work
[Template for this supplied at bottom of this post]

While at work,
I got to thinking and doodling if it was possible to make a circle step card.
When I got home I got my large nesties out and after about a thousand tries..
Guess what?.. It worked!

It’s hard to see the steps as I’ve covered them with flowers & dragonflies
but you get the idea!

To decorate my card I have used a large scalloped strip at the bottom.
Image is ‘Party Frills‘ from Sugar Nellie,
she is such a cutie!
Colored her with Copics and
nested onto a scalloped circle which is attached half over the fold.

Some of the flowers are from Marianne dies,
dragonfly is a Doohicky die, and the sentiment is by SU!

I love it when a plan comes together..
and again.. Thanks Cathy for getting me to think ‘outside the box’ :)

I’d like to enter this card in the PTW Flower challenge for this week,
and My Time to Craft’s challenge is Flourishes

As promised here is the template for the folded A5 step

When cut and folded it will look like this

Let me know if you would like to see the circle template as well.

Call me..

It’s been a long day..
and there is nothing better than playing around with
paper and pens to unwind for an hour or so!

It resulted in me making my card for the
Simply Sassy Facebook challenge,
where they would like to see a side step card.

I have used one of the new Sassy stamps,
Call me, she is just ‘dreamy’!

I cut her out leaving a small boarder and
made the card into a dresser like I seen on this baby card

As the challenge over at Stamptacular Sunday is
‘WHATEVA!’
I’m entering it there as well.

Have a great and relaxing evening,

Hugs, Marlene x

Sugar Bowl ~52~ Love

Good morning and welcome to a brand spanking new challenge from the
SUGAR BOWL.

Maria Therese has provided the lovely sketch for you all to use
and the optional theme is ‘Love’

Once again there is a fabulous prize up for grabs,
a pic & mix of 6 Sugar Nellie stamps of your choice..
and what with some fabby new ones in stock you’ll be spoilt for choice!!
But .. wait for it!
There are going to be 2 winners this fortnight, 6 stamps each!!

***

On to my card:
I finally got around to inking up this yummie stamp ‘Worried
and stamped him in brown onto water colour paper.
Took a waterbrush and smudged some of the lines of the image.

I then scored vertical lines all over the image,
and inked the edges with distress inks.

The other background papers I also made myself
by using the embossed white papers by SU!,
sponged distress inks all over,
this really makes the embossed patterns stand out.

Huge silk bow threaded through the image finishes off the card a treat.

As always.. please visit the blog for all the details
and gain lots of inspiration from my DT Sweeties

On another note..

I’ve decided to alter my ATG yesterday.
I took the tape wheels off and covered up the bit’s I didn’t want painting with masking tape.

Then sprayed on the first layer with plastic compatible paint.. looking gooood!
I wanted to do 3 coats and had to wait an hour between each one..
Then 24 hrs for the last coat to totally set.
Talk about watching paint dry!

When the 3rd coat was on,
I quickly nipped out to take Lolly to brownies and when I got back hubby only decided to have a clean up and chucked the whole caboodle to one side ready to be skipped!!

Needless to say all the tacky paint was scoffed & scratched..
tell you, I was about to kill him!

Will have to wait till this evening,
sand down as much as I can and start again..
with hopefully no interfering hubby’s about!
